About the experience

A creative experience by the sea

Slow down, get creative and make something you’ll be proud to use every day.

This is an experience where you’ll create a one-of-a-kind piece of furniture — not just a small project.

Hosted at our Newhaven studio, this 2-part class gives you the time, space, and guidance to design and build your own resin river coffee table using reclaimed wood and epoxy resin.

You’ll work closely with us throughout the process — from selecting your slab to pouring resin and applying a professional finish.

Your tutor

Jim C.

Founder of Oceanic Woodstore

Oceanic Woodstore was born in 2023 from a passion for making.

Today, Jim spends his days creating handcrafted furniture and welcoming guests into his riverside studio, where people can slow down, learn a new skill and rediscover the simple pleasure of making something with their own hands.

Every visitor who walks through our workshop doors becomes part of that story. Whether you’re casting your first piece of resin art or building something with timber, you’ll leave with more than a finished piece—you’ll leave with new skills, greater confidence, and the quiet satisfaction that comes from creating something with your own hands. It’s this feeling, as much as the finished work itself, that we hope you’ll take home with you.

Questions

Good to know before you book.

Do I need any previous experience?

Not at all. Our workshops are designed for complete beginners as well as those looking to develop new creative skills. We’ll guide you step by step, provide all the materials and make sure you leave feeling confident and inspired.

What's included in the experience?

Everything you need is provided, including premium materials, professional tools, safety equipment and expert tuition. Best of all, you’ll take home the piece you’ve created.

What should I wear?

We recommend wearing comfortable clothes that you don’t mind getting a little dusty or splashed, depending on the workshop. Protective aprons and safety equipment are provided whenever needed.

Can I book as a gift or with friends?

Absolutely. Our experiences make wonderful gifts for birthdays, anniversaries, Christmas and special occasions. Many guests come as couples, friends or family groups, and private workshops are available for celebrations and corporate events.

What happens if there aren’t enough people booked for my class?

Our experiences are at their best with a small group, so we require a minimum of **2 guests** for each class to go ahead.

If we haven’t reached the minimum number **7 days before your experience**, we’ll get in touch and move your booking to another available date where the class is confirmed to run.

We’ll always give you as much notice as possible and work with you to find a new date that suits you.

Thank you for understanding — keeping our groups at the right size helps us create the relaxed, hands-on experience we want every Oceanic guest to enjoy.

What happens if I can't attend my booking?

We understand that plans sometimes change. If you let us know in advance, we’ll do our best to transfer your booking to another available date, if more than 7 days in advance.
